Numbers: $2 billion sales - Apple's app store remains unrivaled

Although Apple's app store must enforce against a growing pool of competitors, the iOS software store remained in the past year of unrivaled leader on the market of software shops for Smartphone users.

2010 Apple could generate global revenues of $ 1.78 billion alone with app sales and improve last year's result by whopping 132%. 2009 revenues of $769 million.

Even if Apple market share had to give up - while we could unite 2009 93% of all AppStore purchases, it were 2010 "just" 82.7% - by the next highest competitor surprisingly BlackBerry Appworld is Apple still far away.

Overlooking the entire market, the phone bound software shops are still in a steep growth. In the last year alone over 160% sold more Applkationen as of 2009 - games make up more than every second download and are currently responsible for 52.2% of all downloaded applications. 2014, analysts at IHS each second download from Apple's AppStore from iPad user is to be sold, currently the iPhone to iPad ratio is 80% to 20%.

Because it fits quite well on the subject: Horace Dediu has combined the life and death of different Smartphone ecosystems, poured into an information graphic and given forecasts up to 2012. We have embedded the whole picture after the jump.
